Internship

One week and half has passed since I started my internship at Lone Pine.

On the first day, my supervisor was sick and she did not come to work, so I got a whole day to have  a look around Lone Pine. As it was my first time to go there, I had really good time. I went almost all of the show and presentation and watch all kinds of animals in the park.

On the second say,  I started working.  I basically work at the office and the shop. As I do not want to work in front of the computer whole day, which make my eye and shoulder really tired,  I reckon working at Lone Pine is suitable for me. What I do not like to do in data entry. After 2 hours of data entry, I was like no more !!! but I should learn that I  have to do what I do not want to do too.

When I talked to my mother on the phone and told about my internship, she said to me that I am having really a good and "Australian" experience. Then I realize that what I am doing, working at Lone Pine and see koalas everyday, is what I never be able to experience in Japan.

I've just got 2 weeks and half until I am going back to my real life...... It is just unimaginable for me. What I and going to do is making the best of my remaining time here in Australia.

native-like accent

i've done an essay about ”critical period hypothesis ” for one of my cource this semester. It's a idea that when human being pass a certain age, we are nearly impossible to acquire native-like pronuciation in a second language. Apparently it happens around 12-13 years old. and If you want to have a native accent , you would better to start learning before 6 years old !! It was quite shocking fact and I wish I knew this when I was little~~~ HAHAHA

Anyway, I really want to get native- llke accent in English. However, I've learnt in another lecture that accents are one of our identity! As long as it's understandable, I would believe it's doesn't matter. Accents can be different fron one country or clture to another. I had felt upset  when I couldn't pronunce wors propaly before I realized this. Now i can have more confident in speaking English. I'll keep trying to get improved tho !! Keep Practicing !!

Two big events !

I talked abot my uni life in the last post and it seemed like I was doing nothing besides studying and not having any fun. However, I had a great time in the bigginig of this mid break !! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

The first big event was Internatinal ball !!
It was organized by UQ Union.

I met new people there and it was just .....awsome ! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’“ Had the best time ever!! haha

You know what, in Japan,we don't really have opportunity to dress up and have a party, so it was such an Australian expnrience for me πŸ‘—πŸŒŸ

The second big event was a BD cruise for my friend from junior high school ! She went to high school in Goldcoast and she has been living there since then.

It was a private boat and we went to the South Strad broak island.

Apparently, it was an uninhabitea island! There were only us  aaaaand

wallabysπŸ’•πŸ’“πŸ’•πŸ’“

How cute he/she is !!!!

what we did on this island was enjoy

beach! beach! beach!

It was also a very Australian experience !
Now I feel I don't want to go back Japan... After this trip, I  just decided to live in Australia in the feauture☺️haha

Ok! it's time to finish up and do my assignments!

Thank you for reading πŸ‘Œ

Uni life 🌟

I am so sorry I missunderstand the due date and I couldn't post by then.

My first few weeks in uni was terrible I was really nurvous in every lecture and tuto,so I could not enjoy anything...but I've started to get used to uni life and actually I am enjoying it now !

People around me are soooo kind and nice. I thought i could not meet many friends at Uni as much as I did at ICTE, however, I met many people in UQ as well 😊 Some of my friends are very kind and they help me a lot.

I've been busy lately and finally I am on the mid break now. This is not really a break for us rather it's a week for studying πŸ˜“ we've just got a month left until we finish lectures and tutorials. Ahhh, time goes so fast !!! but I still have 5 essays plus a group presentation and a in class quiz by the end of this semester. Of cource there are finals as well 😝✨

woooow I just realized I am gonna be sooo busy. haha

But I am ready for it !!!

What I want to do before I start my internship is ..... actually I can't think of anything cause I don't have time for doing anything by then, but probably I'll go to surfing if I have time :) I'll definetley do this by the time when I go back Japan!!! Can't leave Australia without surfing 😝

Anyway I'll keep working hard and hope I can pass all cources✨

Good luck on me ! ☺️

having fun‼︎

I've been here for more than 4 months! Finally, the last IELTS was over in the end of June and I've been hanging out a lot with my friends.

I joined a Gold Coast 10km marathon with a friend. Although I didn't really prepare for it, I could finish in 70 mins. It was not that good result, but I'm satisfied with being able to finish it.

οΌ·hat else I enjoyed in Gold Coast was that we stayed at the backpacker hostel. Since the marathon started at 6:30am,we had to stay overnight in Gold Coast. It was kind of scary to stay at the hostel just two of us, but we were able to meet new people there. I talked to a leady who was from Austria and I had a good time talking with her. I thought it was a good place to make new friends from all over the world even though there are some risks for especially girls.

The following weekend, after the final exam was over, I went to Byro Bay with some of my friends from Kansai for skydiving !! I was sooo excited and looking forward to it, however, all skydives has been canceled due to strong winds!
οΌ·hat a bummer! Even though our jump has canceled, we still enjoyed sightseeing in Byron Bay.

Light house✨

οΌ·e could see school of dolphin in the sea near Light house

During the session break, my mom came to Brisbane! I took her UQ to have a look around and also we went to travel to Gold Coast!

I had a lot of fun with her 😊

Now uni life started ! I've already been tired , but I'll do my best!

EAP1 Red :)

I can not believe it's been 3 months since I came here.

I'm having really good time with my new friends and teatcher. From the last session, l've been studying in EAP, which is IELTS preparation class. Although it is harder and more academic than general English, I am really enjoying it!

The reason why I like the class is my teachers and classmates! They are very vesy nice. My main teatcher is Glenn, whoes wife is Japanese, so he understands Japanese culture! In addtion, I like the way he teaches us English. He is very thoughtful toward students and ... I can't even find the word to express how nice he is!!

We have a class morning tea together on every Friday. Glenn brings some tea and coffee things, and we take turns to bring some sncks for everyone. It is one of my favorite time spending with classmates and I am able to get along with them through the class morning tea.

I am going to take the last IELTS tomorrow! I've been studying hard and didn't really go out last 2 month,so I want to have some fun in July !! Actually I'm joing Gold Coast 10km marathon next week and my mother's coming to see me during the next session break!  sooo excited !! Of cource i'll keep studying hard as well :)

Melbourne trip

During the last session brake , I went to Melbourne for 5 days with my friends, who are 4 Japanese including me and 4 Clonmbians. Our flight to  leave Brisbane was early in the mornimg. However, some of my friends arrived late at the airport and missed the airplane πŸ˜…They took the next flight... so  we had to wait for  them at Melbourn airport.

Although we wasted time on the fist day in the morning, we still had a good time :)

We drove a rental car around Great Ocean Road πŸš—πŸŒŸ
There was a lot of beautiful places to visit ! l would like to show you some nice pictures πŸ˜ŠπŸ’

London Bridge

Twelve Apostles
color house

We also walked around Melbourn City. it's much busier than Brisbane. I really liked it πŸ˜„

We cooked three meals in a day to save money πŸ‘πŸ‘ It was a good experience for me!!

Through this trip, I learnt many things from my awesome friends😊 Actually, there were some difficulties to travel with people from other country... The difference of language or culture sometimes  made me irritated, however, I enjoyed the trip more than that. It was the most excited trip I have ever had 😳🌟

First 4 weeks in Brisbane

I just can not believe that  it has been 4 weeks since I came here.
This 4 weeks  in Brisbane was a fulfilling time for me.  Everything was new and fresh. So when I finished the first week, I felt  that I had been here for a month.

There is a thing that I felt different from my experience in Canada. 3 years ago, I lived in Vancover for 10 month to study English. At that time , I was 17 years old and still a high school student so I could not travel around or went out a lot by myself. So I often stayed at home or went out with my host family in the weekend. However, this time, I often go out and have a trip in the weekend with my friends. This is very different for me when I compare to my life in Canada. Of course I liked Canada, however, to be honest, I like Brisbane better.

Firstly the weather is so nice here. It is not too hot in summer and it is not too cold in winter. Even though I have been here just for 4 weeks, I found it very comfortable to live here.

Gold Coast
Secondly there are lot of things to do. Especially, I liked beaches here. I went to Gold Cost trip in the first weekend. I have not been to a beach for a long time so I was so excited.

Okonomiyaki
I also visited other places in Brisbane. For example, I went to Eat Street. It was little bit far away from city but I liked the place very much.  It was like a festival and you can eat different kind of food from different countries. I ate Japanese food called "Okonomiyaki". It was little bit different from what I usually eat in Japan but it was still good!!  Eat Street is open every weekend. I really recommend you to visit there.

Futsal
I  joined a sports activity in UQ too. I have been playing futsal in Japan since I got into the university, so I wanted to play here too. Since I heard that ICTE students play futsal every Friday, I went to join it with my friends. However there were just boys in the teams. Although it was very hard to play futsul with boys, I enjoyed playing futsal. Actually, I got a goal !! :)
Finally, I rally like people here!!  I could make a lot of friends . Everyone is very nice to me.You know what I turned  20 years old in this April 1 and my friends  held a BBQ party on  my  birthday . I didn't expect my friends to celebrate my birthday since I had my birthday 10 days after coming to Australia.  I was so happy and had a lot of fun with them!!

Birthday BBQ

I just finished my first session which was really useful for me. I must keep studying hard for next 10 weeks to get a good score on IELTS. I really want to study at UQ!! I'll do my best :)
